We are looking for a Climate Specialist who will support Kvadrat in leading its climate and environment program. The position is in Ebeltoft, with the option of working hybrid.

 

About the job

In March 2022, we committed to the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). This for us is to achieve 50% carbon reduction in scope 1-2 by 2026, reaching 100% by 2030 to become net zero in scope 1-3 by 2040.

You will become our in-house expert in greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and execute on our roadmap to net zero. This will include but not be limited to building strong investment cases for this transition, acting as a strong project manager across our energy, waste and water reduction programs, and drive sustainability advocacy via our Kvadrat Change Maker networks. You will, through excellent engagement skills and together with the team and colleagues, put our sustainability strategy “Regenerate Together through Transparency” and performance targets into action to lead the way into a low-carbon, circular, fair & inclusive economy.

 

Some of your tasks will include the following:

Drive achievement of our net zero sustainability performance targets (scope 1-3) as greenhouse gas expert and hereby develop analytical tools and assessment methodologies for comparing GHG and environmental impacts of different business cases across our production sites and global offices to enable sustainable decision-making
Continuously optimize our energy transition planning by identifying new efficiency and electrification opportunities and drive renewable energy procurement and onsite development projects.
Drive GHG reporting processes compliant with SBTi in close collaboration with our Quality & CSR Coordinator
Drive, implement and hand-over to the functional specialists our strategic sustainability projects like our waste and water reduction programs.
Support the phase-out of virgin packaging material and the introduction of better alternatives and support packaging efficiency
Support the implementation of smart data collection and reporting tools in collaboration with our IT, ERP (D365), Digital and Business Analytics departments
Be the bridge-builder between clients, suppliers and Kvadrat in relation to sustainability through collaboration with the Kvadrat marketing team
Support the content creation for Kvadrat´s annual Sustainability Report, incl. CSRD-compliant double materiality assessment, policy writing and transition plan development.

As part of the Strategy & Sustainability team, you will join a small but diverse team with consultancy, business, and sustainability experience. Besides your core team, you will have a close collaboration with our teams in Quality, Product Development, and Supply Chain & Operations and our production partners. In your daily work, you will be reporting to Head of Sustainability, Philine Kriependorf.

 

Competencies and Qualifications

The ideal profile possesses academic credentials at master level, e.g. Sustainability, Engineering, Environmental Science, or International Business. This is preferably combined with at least 2-3 years of practical experience where you have had a central role in driving the environmental projects as specialist or in a project manager role.

You are highly analytical and are familiar with CO2 accounting standards, e.g. Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the target-setting methodology of Science Based Target initiative. Your well-developed interpersonal and communication skills enable you to form strong working relationships across the entire organization.

Your analytical and structured problem-solving approach enables you to drive decision making and lead the sustainability agenda, including local implementation of initiatives.

Moreover, solid an understanding and experience with some of the following environment and climate concepts is a plus:

Renewable energy procurement
Energy efficiency, electrification
GHG accounting
LCAs / EPDs
Climate /Environmental risk assessment
Sustainable Finance – Sustainability linked loans
Financial business case calculation, including NPV and pay-back time
ESG data collection and assurance processes
Experience with GHG reporting under CSRD, and you should have an interest in developing your skills within carbon reporting
