Website Innovation Forum

The organisation:

Innovation Forum is a purpose driven business based in London, with a mission to help make sustainability mainstream in business. We do this through online publishing and industry leading business conferences that address the biggest challenges in sustainability across supply chains. We also deliver stakeholder engagement, research and communications services that utilise our network and cross-industry experience to promote positive change.

The role:

In the role, you’ll be asked to research, build, and run industry-leading business conferences that deliver cutting-edge debate and progress in sustainable packaging. A passion for sustainability is essential to the role, as is an interest in business and a commercial mindset.

The role will be based in our London office between Liverpool Street and Moorgate station. We currently support a flexible approach to home vs office working, with 5 days in the office across 2 weeks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct in-depth research into specific issues and industries to build an understanding of the main sustainability challenges faced by business
  • Write a progressive two-day agenda that reflects your research into the area and key business trends
  • Prospect senior sustainability professionals, build relationships and confirm participation in IF conferences
  • Place speakers throughout your agenda and build engaging, well-rounded conference sessions focused on practical learnings and candid debate
  • Create, implement and track a marketing plan for the conference to grow ticket sales and event revenue
  • Coordinate and contribute to supporting research and publishing, including written content, podcasts and webinars
  • Work closely with relevant team members to establish new products that contribute to the company mission and bottom line

You’ll be rewarded for your performance, whilst being given responsibility for your own success. We want someone that won’t shy away from a challenge but will embrace and take ownership of the position.

The role will focus on in-person business conferences in cities such as London, Amsterdam, Washington DC and New York. Occasional travel will be required.

The role offers competitive basic pay, plus a generous uncapped profit share scheme. It is suitable for a recent graduate or someone with 1-3 years of relevant experience.

What we are looking for:

Whilst we don’t necessarily need a candidate with masses of experience, we are looking for someone who is highly organised, a self-starter, and can demonstrate the key skills required to succeed in this role.

Organisation: Ability to manage your time effectively to set and meet deadlines and coordinate fast-moving deliverables with stakeholders throughout the conference lifecycle
Strong research skills: Interest in sustainability and quick to identify and understand industry trends and challenges, with an eagerness to learn
Strong writing skills: Ability to create a compelling and engaging conference agenda with punchy, concise copy
Excellent communication skills: Acting as the primary point of contact with speakers, attendees and other conference partners through confident and professional written and verbal communication skills
Positive and pragmatic approach: We’re looking for someone who is calm and collected when operating under pressure and is ready to take on a challenge
Driven and proactive: Whilst you’ll be supported by the rest of the team, you won’t be micromanaged and we’ll expect you to take proactive ownership of your event.
Passionate about business AND sustainability: The ideal candidate will have a commercial mindset and want to be part of a growing business, whilst also having a real passion for sustainability and a desire to have a positive impact in the world.

What’s in it for you?

Work as part of a fun, friendly and supportive team: We foster an energetic and sociable environment, with regular days in the office together and after work events. In this role, you’ll get to know and collaborate with each member of the IF team.

Real responsibility: You’ll have a high degree of responsibility and autonomy from day one. We’ll give you the tools and training you need to succeed and emphasise on-the-job learning. You’ll be able to get stuck in and have an impact on the business straight away, as well as continued exposure to high-ranking professionals from big business.

Build your knowledge, network, and expertise in sustainability: You’ll be working on issues at the cutting edge of sustainability. These are highly complex topics that actively shape business strategy around social and environmental sustainability. As the face of the conference, you’ll have the opportunity to build strong relationships with important stakeholders in this space.
